INDICTMENT UNSEALED IN 2006 NEW CASTLE HOMICIDE
Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore and New Castle Police Chief Robert Breen announced today the unsealing of a three count indictment against Carlos Perez-Olivo (DOB 5/01/48) of 1 Old House Lane, Chappaqua, New York.
The indictment charges Perez-Olivo with the following in the murder of his wife, Peggy Perez-Olivo:
· One count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class “A-1” Felony. · One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class “C” Felony. · One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a class “A” Misdemeanor.
On November 18, 2006, at approximately 11 PM, Carlos Perez-Olivo was driving the family car northbound on Route 100 in the Town of New Castle. Peggy Perez-Olivo was seated in the front passenger’s seat. They were returning from an evening in New York City.
At approximately 11:11 PM. a 911 cell phone call was received by the New York State Police from a male – later identified as Perez-Olivo - stating his wife was shot, and that he also sustained a gunshot wound.
While on the phone, Perez-Olivo continued driving, arriving at Northern Westchester Hospital. His wife died there the next day. He remained hospitalized with a non-life threatening gun shot wound.
Bail was set at one million dollars cash or bond.
Subsequent court dates are pending.
Perez-Olivo faces a maximum of twenty five years to life in state prison on the top charge.
Assistant District Attorney Perry Perrone, Chief of the Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Christine O’Connor, Deputy Bureau Chief of the Homicide Bureau, will prosecute the case.
