District Attorney Press Release

PILOT ARRAIGNED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Nathaniel Nurnberg (DOB 09/11/76) of 14672 52nd Street, Bixby, Oklahoma, was arraigned today on one count of Possession of an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “E” Felony.

On January 12th, 2007 the defendant, a corporate jet pilot, was staying at a Westchester hotel on a layover.  Nurnberg was allegedly viewing obscene sexual images, of a male child performing with a male adult, on his laptop computer via the hotel’s wireless (WiFi) network.  Nurnberg stored these images on his laptop in folders that were accessible to other users on the hotel’s wireless network.

Another hotel guest, using a laptop on the same network to view and download iTunes, saw Nurnberg’s shared folder and assumed that it contained legal music files.  When the guest saw the true contents of the shared folder he immediately called the White Plains Police Department who, with the help of the District Attorney’s office, were able to trace the obscene sexual images to Nurnberg’s computer.

Nurnberg faces a maximum of four years in state prison.

His bail was set at $3,000 cash.

Nurnberg’s next court date is March 22nd, 2007.

Assistant District Attorney Michael Delohery, Chief of the High Technology Crimes Bureau, will prosecute the case.
