Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Albert Crooks (DOB 09/25/80) of 11-23 St. Casimir Avenue, Yonkers, New York, was sentenced today to a determinate term of 15 years in state prison on his conviction following a jury trial on:
· one count of Assault in the First Degree, a class “B” Violent Felony,
· one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a class “D” Felony,
relating to a brutal attack on his 58 year old mother last year.
The argument turned physically violent when the defendant hit his mother with his fist and a heavy glass ashtray.
The defendant then fled the scene.
Yonkers Police responded and located the victim outside a neighbor’s door.
The victim suffered serious injuries to her face and eyes including a broken eye socket which required the reconstruction of the left side of her face including a permanent titanium plate.
An investigation began and an arrest warrant was issued for the defendant.
He was apprehended
Assistant District Attorney Jamie Fair of the Domestic Violence Bureau prosecuted the case.
