DISTRICT ATTORNEY JANET DIFIORE PASSES THE MANTLE

AS MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEY CYRUS VANCE IS SWORN IN AS PRESIDENT OF THE DISTRICT ATTORNEYS ASSOCIATION

OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr. was sworn in as the 90^th President of the New York State District Attorneys Association by outgoing President Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore at the Association’s annual Summer Conference on Saturday July 21^st at the Doral Arrowwood Hotel Conference Center in Rye Brook New York.

“District Attorney Vance’s distinguished legal career and commitment to collaboration among law enforcement will make him an effective President of the District Attorney’s Association. I look forward to continuing to work with DA Vance in the next year, building upon our legislative accomplishments and striving for continued innovation among the State’s District Attorneys,” said District Attorney Janet DiFiore.

“It is a great honor to represent New York State’s 62 elected district attorneys as president of DAASNY,” said District Attorney Vance. “Last year, under the guidance of Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore, DAASNY made great strides.  New York State will benefit immeasurably from last year’s legislative accomplishments such as the expansion of the DNA databank, new domestic violence laws, and heightened protections for people with developmental disabilities.  Over the coming year, I will strive to continue the thoughtful work of the past presidents of DAASNY, with the goal of supporting prosecutors around the state as they work to keep our communities safe.”

The District Attorneys Association of the State of New York (DAASNY) was formed in 1909 by and was created as a professional organization for prosecuting attorneys - District Attorneys and Assistant District Attorneys - practicing in New York State.

There are 62 elected district attorneys in New York State, one for each county.
