TACONIC CORRECTION OFFICER CONVICTED

OF sex act with prisoner

 

                   

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Frederick Brenyah (DOB 10/17/49) of 421 North Broadway, Yonkers, New York, was convicted today following a jury trial on:

 

  • one count of Criminal Sex Act in the Third Degree, a class “E” Felony,
  • one count of Attempted Rape in the Third Degree, a class “A” Misdemeanor,
  • and one count of Official Misconduct, a class “A” Misdemeanor.

 

On September 19, 2010, the defendant, a New York State Corrections Officer at the Taconic Correctional Facility for women in Bedford Hills, New York, encountered a 56 year old inmate who was on her way to retrieve an iron to iron her uniform.

 

The defendant asked the inmate to retrieve her id and return.

 

On her way back, the victim passed an officer’s lounge which contained a bathroom for corrections officers.

 

The defendant pulled her inside and stood her up against a radiator in the bathroom.

 

The victim described that the defendant briefly engaged in sexual intercourse and then engaged in oral sex.

 

Brenyah faces a maximum sentence of up to 4 years in state prison when sentenced on July 10, 2012.

 

Assistant District Attorney Fredric I. Green, Chief of the Sex Crimes Bureau, and Assistant District Attorney Joyce Miller, also of the Sex Crimes Bureau, prosecuted the case.
