ASPIRING MODEL ARRAIGNED IN MURDER AND KIDNAPPING PLOT

 

ACCOMPLICES AWAIT EXTRADITION TO NEW  YORK STATE

 

 

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Jessica Ryan French (DOB 08/22/87) of 2703 10th Street SW, Lehigh Acres, Florida, was arraigned today on a seven count indictment charging her with:

 

·         two counts of Murder in the Second Degree, class “A-1” Felonies,

·         one count of Kidnapping in the First Degree, a class “A” Felony,

·         one count of Robbery in the Second Degree, a class “C” Felony,

·         one count of Unlawful Imprisonment, a class “E” Felony,

·         one count of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a class “E” Felony

·         one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, a class “A” Misdemeanor,

 

relating to the death of Epifanio Medina whose body was discovered in the Town of North Salem

on June 12, 2011.

 

Two accomplices, Charles Blanchard (DOB 12/17/90) of 32 Moses Avenue, Hill, New Hampshire, and Travis Morin (DOB 10/15/87) of 6 Jones Hill Road, Danbury, Hampshire were also indicted and await extradition to New York State.

 

On June 12, 2011, two horseback riders discovered the decomposing body of a male, later learned to be 65 year old, Epifanio Medina in the woods of North Salem.

 

The victim, a Florida resident had been living in Passaic, New Jersey. He was known to carry large amounts of cash and wore a lot of flashy jewelry. He frequented a liquor store in Passaic, New Jersey and was last seen exiting that store on June 2, 2011 at 4:00 pm.

 

The New York State Police commenced an extensive, wide ranging investigation and on June 17th, 2011, the deceased was identified.

           

Police also learned that deceased had been reported missing by family members on June 5, 2011 and that he had been living in Passaic, New Jersey.

 

State Police expanded their investigation both down to Florida where one of the defendants lived and up to New Hampshire where the other two lived.

 

By meticulously weaving together the movements and activities of the three defendants, state police investigators connected their actions with the victim.

 

On February 13th, 2012, Morin was charged by Felony Complaint after the execution of a New York State Arrest Warrant in Hillsboro County New Hampshire where he is in jail on unrelated charges. He has not waived extradition and a New York State Governor’s Warrant will be executed.

 

On February 23rd, 2012, Blanchard was arraigned on a New York State Arrest Warrant in Merrimack County New Hampshire where he is in jail on unrelated charges and has an extradition hearing on March 15th, 2012.

 

On February 27th, 2012 French was arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office after they executed a warrant for her arrest.

 

French was remanded to the Westchester County Jail.

 

Her next court appearance will be on March 21st, 2012.

 

All the defendants face a maximum of twenty five years to life state prison.
