CONVICTION IN NODINE HILL TURF MURDER

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Carlton Byrd (DOB 5/28/78) of 40 Cliff Street, Yonkers, New York was convicted today of Murder in the Second Degree in the death of Kaream “Remo” Foreman.

On October 5th, 2005, the victim and another man got into a fight on Cliff Street in Yonkers. Byrd participated in the fight in which the victim was subsequently stabbed. Byrd then warned Foreman to stay off “his” block.

On returning from the hospital, the victim and defendant again began to argue, at which point Byrd shot the victim in the head.

District Attorney Janet DiFiore said regarding the conviction, “Along with Detectives from the Yonkers Police Department and the Prosecutors from the District Attorney’s office, credit for this defendant’s conviction goes to the community for coming forward and testifying at the trial. The result is that a murderer has been taken off the streets of Nodine Hill and will spend the majority of his adult life in prison.”

Byrd will be sentenced on August 9th, 2006 before Judge Rory Bellantoni.

He faces a sentence of twenty five years to life in state prison.
