Oct. 31, 2013 -- Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced today that Jaerue Williams (DOB 12/06/85) of 59 Old Mamaroneck Road, White Plains, New York, was convicted on:

  • one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a class "B" Violent Felony,
  • one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class "C" Violent Felony,

relating to the fatal shooting of Wilfredo Rivera.

On Aug. 11, 2012, at approximately 12:15 am, Port Chester Police responded to 16 South Regent St. on a report of a shooting.

The victim, 21-year-old Wilfredo Rivera, had been transported to Greenwich Hospital by several friends.

Rivera, who was shot once in the chest at close range, was pronounced dead by hospital personnel.

Port Chester Police began an investigation and subsequently identified the defendant as the shooter.

The defendant was already in custody after being arrested on Aug. 18, 2012 on a parole violation stemming from two 2010 felony convictions..

Subsequently, the defendant pled guilty to:

  • one count of Burglary in the Second Degree, a class "C" Violent Felony,

regarding a home invasion occurring in August 2012.

Sentencing will be on Nov. 6 , 2013.

Sentencing for the Manslaughter conviction will be on Feb. 18, 2014.

The defendant faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison.

"Collaborative multi-jurisdictional detective work throughout Westchester County linked this defendant to the most recent felonies that this defendant committed. With today's conviction, this defendant will finally be held accountable for his persistent and violent felony career," said District Attorney Janet DiFiore.

Assistant District Attorney Julia Cornachio and Assistant District Attorney Wendy Parra of the Superior Court Trial Division prosecuted the case.
