Deskovic Report

In the fall of 2006, District Attorney Janet DiFiore commissioned a report to closely examine the wrongful conviction of Jeffrey Deskovic. Deskovic had been convicted in January of 1991 of the November 1989 rape and murder a 15-year-old Peekskill girl. At the time of his sentencing, Deskovic was seventeen years old.

A panel of experienced jurists, two former judges, a former district attorney and senior attorney at The Legal Aid Society of New York thoroughly reviewed the case with the mission of investigating what went wrong and how could an innocent young man be sent to prison for a crime that he didn’t commit.
