This case involved an extensive investigation by the Yonkers Police Department and arrests of the three defendants were made during the course of a special detail organized by YPD on the morning of Dec. 30, 2017.

Background
On Dec. 30, 2017, the three men carried out an early morning burglary spree in eight residential apartment buildings across Yonkers. They targeted the buildings’ laundry rooms and stole cash out of laundry room cash-to-card machines in four out of the eight locations. (The cash-to-card machine is how a user pays cash to recharge a laundry debit card.) The series of burglaries started just after midnight and ended with the arrest at 5 a.m.

The men burglarized the following locations:

  • 12:10 a.m. 1234 Midland Avenue
  • 1:02 a.m. 188 Warburton Avenue
  • 2:32 a.m. 242 Bronxville Road
  • 2:48 a.m. 25 Parkview Avenue
  • 3:08 a.m. 1304 Midland Avenue
  • 3:55 a.m. 1225 Midland Avenue
  • 4:07 a.m.  900 Palmer Road
  • 4:40 a.m. 107 Van Cortlandt Park Avenue

Yonkers Police pulled over the suspect car at 5 a.m. near Courter and Leroy avenues. All three defendants were in the car with Terry in the driver’s seat. Police found a stash of burglars’ tools inside the Nissan including power tools, crowbars, gloves, duct tape and a sledge hammer. The three were arrested at the scene.

Assistant District Attorney Nicholas DiCostanzo of the Superior Court Trial Division prosecuted the case.
