May 3, 2018 -- In a statement to the media today, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. said, “This morning, the case of Cynthia Arce was called in Mamaroneck Village Court.  The matter has been adjourned to May 17, 2018.

The District Attorney’s Office continues to investigate the very serious charges which currently consist of two counts of Aggravated Attempted Murder of two police officers and could result in additional charges.

We are awaiting the results of the autopsy of the child which could take weeks. Those results could have a major impact on the direction the case takes.

With regards to what transpired on Friday April 27, 2018, the events will be the subject of an intensive review in the coming weeks and months. This will be done internally in our office as well as part of the Child Fatality Review Team – a multi-agency panel.

This is going to take weeks if not months if it’s to be done right.  And this office is committed to getting justice for the child and family, as well as all others involved.”

The District Attorney’s Office has no further comment at this time.
