Defendant: Gregory Harris (DOB 08/25/76)

May 22, 2018 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Gregory Harris of the Bronx was found guilty May 22, 2018, on multiple counts of Robbery following a jury trial in Westchester County Court. He is scheduled to be sentenced July 11, 2018.

Harris was convicted on charges related to four different robbery incidents at the same gas station on Central Park Avenue in Yonkers all occurring after 10 p.m. in 2016.

Timeline:

  • April 1, 2016: Harris entered the station armed with a handgun and demanded money from the employees. He knocked one employee to the ground and held the gun on the cashier as he stole money.  On his way out, he fired the weapon as a warning shot. No one was injured.
  • June 28, 2016: Once again, he entered the station wearing gloves and a mask armed with a handgun and stole money from the cashier.
  • Aug. 2, 2016:  Harris entered the premises wearing gloves and a mask and mimicked the presence of a gun. He stole money from the cashier again.
  • Aug. 23, 2016: The Yonkers Police Department Pattern Crime Unit was continuing directed surveillance at the location in response to the three previous robberies. That night, police officers saw the defendant attempt another robbery, again wearing gloves and a mask. Police stopped the defendant as he started to drive away from the station.
  • In the car Harris was driving, police found gloves and a mask used that night and in the Aug. 2, 2018, robbery. Police collected many pieces of incriminating evidence and surveillance video which were further corroborated by information given by the victims who identified the defendant as the perpetrator in all four incidents.

Harris was convicted of the following charges:

  • Four counts of Robbery in the First Degree, class B felonies

And one count each of:

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C felony
  • Robbery in the Third Degree, a class D felony
  • Attempted Robbery in the Third Degree, a class E felony

Assistant District Attorneys Daniel Flecha and James Bavero prosecuted the case.
