Defendant: Allen Copeland (DOB 01/24/96)
May 16, 2018 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Allen Copeland, of Mount Vernon, pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class B violent felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C violent felony, for his roles in a May 20, 2017, shooting in Yonkers and the May 21, 2017, shooting in Mount Vernon. The guilty pleas were entered as the trial for the Yonkers shooting was about to begin. Both shootings were street disputes.
Copeland is scheduled for sentencing July 17, 2018. He faces up to 25 years in prison on the Attempted Murder case and up to 15 years in prison on the Criminal Possession of a Weapon case.
Copeland is also charged along with co-defendants Eric Lee, Sincere Smith and Leroy Garcia with the murder of Trevon Boswell in Mount Vernon, which took place during a 12-hour violent crime spree that occurred May 22, 2017. Copeland faces up to 25 years-to-life in prison if he is convicted on this 50-count indictment which is pending.
The cases are being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Lauren Abinanti and Brian Bendish.
