Nov. 22, 2017 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. today announced that Horace Allen, a 17-year-old Bronx resident, was arraigned today before Judge Blackwood on an indictment charging him with:

  • one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a class “C” Felony,
  • one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class “C” Felony,
  • one count of Criminally Negligent Homicide, a class “E” Felony,
  • one count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class “E” Felony.

in the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Joseph Kuaffo of Yonkers.

On Sept. 24, 2017, Allen was at the Yonkers home of Kuaffo showing off a loaded handgun when it went off and struck Kuaffo in the chest. Allen immediately fled the scene.

Yonkers police responded and upon arrival, found the mortally wounded victim who was rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Yonkers where he was pronounced dead.

Yonkers detectives found the handgun used in the shooting and after interviewing witnesses and processing forensic and ballisitic evidence, arrested Allen a short time later.

Allen pled not guilty and his bail was set at $100,000 cash over $250,000 bond.

His next court date is Dec. 13, 2017 before Judge Minihan, and he faces 15 years in state prison.

Assistant District Attorney Nadine Nagler of the Superior Court Trial Division is prosecuting the case.
