Nov. 20, 2017 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. today announced the guilty plea of a man who committed a forcible rape of a Mt. Vernon woman in 2014.

Clevon Reeves (DOB 8/1/82) formerly of the Bronx, pled guilty before the Honorable Susan M. Cacace to:

  • one count of Rape in the First Degree, a class “B“ violent Felony.

On Nov. 22, 2014, as the victim was entering her apartment on Cortlandt Street, Reeves, who was unknown to the victim, pushed her inside from behind, forced her onto the floor and forcibly raped her. During the forcible rape, Reeves choked the victim.

Reeves then fled the scene and the victim immediately called 911 and reported her attack. The Mount Vernon Police Department responded and commenced an investigation. The victim was taken to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital where she was treated for her injuries and she submitted to a sexual assault evidence collection kit.

The evidence collected from the victim and the scene was submitted to the Westchester County Department of Laboratories and Research for DNA analysis. The DNA profile developed by the lab was submitted into CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) and on Jan. 30, 2015 Clevon Reeves was identified as the suspect in the rape. Following a lengthy search, he was arrested on Oct. 25, 2016 by members of the Mount Vernon Police Department and Investigators from the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.

Reeves faces 25 years in state prison when he is sentenced on Jan. 9, 2018.

Assistant District Attorney Laura Murphy and Assistant District Attorney Kerrie Williams, both of the Superior Court trial Division, prosecuted the case.
