March 7, 2017 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Clifford Ali (DOB 08/06/63) of 214 South 5th Ave., Mount Vernon, NY was arraigned on an indictment today before Judge Anne Minihan and charged with:

  • one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class “A-1” Felony and
  • three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, class “A” Misdemeanors

in the death of Martin Lisnak (DOB 04/27/42).

On Nov. 21, 2016 at approximately 1:25 p.m., Mount Vernon Police received a 911 call. The call was made by the defendant who identified himself. He told police that a man he identified as his “father” had been beaten up on the street.

Mount Vernon Police Officers arrived at the apartment and discovered the lifeless body of the victim. He was naked, dead, uncovered and appeared to be severely beaten.

A subsequent investigation revealed that contrary to the defendant’s claim, the victim was not related to the defendant. They were in fact roommates. The defendant had apparent blood on his hands. Three canes which had apparent blood on them were recovered inside the apartment. There was apparent blood splatter on the walls in the room where the victim was located.

The Medical Examiner ruled that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the body. The victim had a fractured humerus and hemorrhages. He suffered at least 15 to 20 wounds on his body.

The defendant pled not guilty.

He remains remanded.

Ali faces twenty-five years to life in state prison.

His next court date is March 21, 2017.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Hochheiser, Deputy Chief of the Career Criminal Bureau.
