March 29, 2016 -- Acting Westchester County District Attorney James A. McCarty announced today that Ronald Long III (DOB 04/03/86) of 630 E. Lincoln Avenue, Mount Vernon was sentenced to 16 years in state prison after being found guilty at trial of:

  • one count of Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, a class "B" Violent Felony and
  • one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a class "D" Violent Felony.

From on or about and between Dec. 25, 2014 and Jan. 31, 2015, the defendant did commit the crime of Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree against a ten-year-old female child.

During this time the defendant did engage in oral sexual conduct consisting of contact with his penis and the victim's mouth. This occurred during the night inside the victim's bedroom and witnessed by the victim's nine-year-old brother.

On or about March 24, 2015 the defendant did commit the crime of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree against the victim during the night inside her bedroom.

In this incident, the defendant made contact between his penis and the victim's buttocks.

After an investigation by the Mount Vernon Police, the defendant was placed under arrest on March 27, 2015 and arraigned on the above charges the same day.

Both children previously known to the defendant, testified at trial which commenced on Jan. 21, 2016 and resulted in a guilty verdict on Feb. 4, 2016.

Along with the prison sentence, the defendant will be required to go through 15 years post release supervision. Also upon completion of his sentence, the defendant will have to register as a sex offender.

Assistant District Attorney Christine Hatfield, Deputy Bureau Chief of the Child Abuse Bureau of the Special Prosecutions Division, prosecuted the case.
