July 25, 2018 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that

Asan Sefuloski and Morris Santaniello, both of the Bronx, were arraigned today on charges stemming from two separate incidents including the burglary of an Eastchester apartment in April where more than a half-million dollars in cash and jewelry were taken.

Both men were indicted by a Westchester County Grand Jury on the following:

  • 2 counts of Burglary in the Second Degree, C felonies
  • Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, a C felony

Background
On the charges of Burglary and Grand Larceny:

  • On April 9, 2018, the indictment alleges, Santaniello and Sefuloski broke into a Garth Road, Eastchester, apartment where they found a safe containing more than $500,000 in cash as well as other property. The two men made off with the stolen goods. Using surveillance video and other information, detectives and investigators were able to identify the defendants.

  • On April 12, 2018, a search warrant issued in the Bronx resulted in the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of jewelry and cash. The second defendant was arrested at another location. Additional warrants were executed over time and resulted in the recovery of more than $400,000. At the time of this arrest, Santaniello was on parole in the Bronx.

Second charge of Burglary
During the investigation, the two defendants were linked to another break-in earlier in the year. On Feb. 21, 2018, the two men broke into a building on Garrett Place, Yonkers but failed to steal property.

Following today’s arraignment, Sefuloski is free on bail. If convicted, he faces 15 years in prison. Santaniello remains remanded into custody based on four prior felony convictions. If convicted of this crime, he faces 25-years- to-life in prison. Both defendants are scheduled to appear in court Aug. 7, 2018.

The arrests were made by Eastchester Police with the assistance of the District Attorney’s Investigators and Yonkers Police Detectives. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Hazem Ennabi of the Investigations Division, and Assistant District Attorney Joseph Servino of the Superior Court Trial Division.
