Defendant: Floyd Bruce (DOB 07/04/97)

July 23, 2018 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced today that Floyd Bruce of Yonkers was sentenced to 15 years in state prison for the shooting of a four-year-old girl and the robbery of two men in Yonkers. He was sentenced by Westchester County Court Judge Barry Warhit.

Bruce pleaded guilty June 8, 2017 to the following charges:

  • Robbery in the First Degree, a class B felony
  • Attempted Assault in the First Degree, a class C felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C felony

Background
On July 26, 2016, at approximately 4:40 p.m., Floyd Bruce and an individual who has since been convicted were on Palisade Avenue in Yonkers. Both defendants, armed with handguns, approached two men in a parked car. They proceeded to rob both men at gunpoint. Both defendants then ran from the scene. Yonkers Police Department arrested them the next day. At the time of Bruce’s arrest, police recovered a 22-caliber semi-automatic handgun that was in his possession.

In an earlier unrelated incident, at approximately 5:15 p.m. on July 16, 2016, Bruce, alone, was walking on Willow Street in Yonkers when he fired a 22-calibersemi-automatic pistol striking a 4-year-old girl in the leg. She was not the intended target. The child was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and released a few day later.

Assistant District Attorney Nadine Nagler, Deputy Bureau Chief of the Career Criminal Division, prosecuted the case.
