Dec. 21, 2017 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. today announced that Rivu Dey, (DOB: 10/24/92) of White Plains, New York was arraigned and charged with attempting to lure a child to engage in sexual activity.

Dey, a chemical engineer, is charged with one count of Attempted Criminal Sexual Act in the Second Degree, a class “E” felony.

Specifically, from Nov. 30, 2017 to Dec. 18, 2017, Dey communicated with an undercover police officer whom Dey believed knew a child who was available for sexual activity. Dey arranged to meet the undercover officer and the child at an agreed-upon location where Dey believed the child and the undercover officer would be waiting for him so that they could engage in sexual activity.

Dey pled not guilty when he was arraigned on December 18, 2017 in the Town of Greenburgh Justice Court.

His bail/bond was set at $15,000, and his next court date is Jan. 5, 2018.

Dey faces up to 4 years in state prison.

The cases is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Laura Forbes of the Westchester County District Attorney’s Investigations Division.
