July 12, 2017 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced today that Robert Daniels (DOB 12/27/88) of 95-117 Ravine Ave., Yonkers, NY was sentenced by Judge Barry Warhit to twenty years to life in state prison after having pled guilty to:

  • one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class “A” Felony

in the death of Joseph Huguet.

On May 31, 2016 at approximately 8:47 p.m., the victim was in Doyle Park when the defendant attempted to rob him at gunpoint. The victim refused to turn over his personal property. That is when the defendant shot him multiple times using a .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol. The defendant then ran out of the park.

Yonkers Police as well as an ambulance responded to the location. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy conducted by the Medical Examiner’s office revealed that the victim suffered bullet wounds to the neck and torso with lacerations of the heart, lung, and liver as well as internal bleeding.

An intensive investigation by the Yonkers Police Department led to the defendant’s arrest on June 2, 2016.

Assistant District Attorney Nicholas DiCostanzo of the Superior Court Trial Division prosecuted the case.
