July 2, 2013 -- Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Alexandru Hossu DOB (12/28/77) of 1 Clock Tower Commons Drive, Brewster, New York, was arraigned today on a five count indictment charging him with:

  • four counts of Rape in the First Degree, class “B” Violent Felonies,
  • one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class “A” Misdemeanor.

On Oct. 24, 2010, at 139 North Brewster Road in Brewster, the defendant entered the bedroom of his girlfriend’s young daughter.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. the defendant overpowered the victim, applied force to the child’s neck and forcibly raped her two separate times.

The incident came to the attention of school and law enforcement officials in early 2013 when the victim disclosed the abuse to a counselor at her school and later to a Sheriff’s Deputy in March 2013.

The defendant’s next court date in Putnam County Court in Carmel is Sept. 23, 2013.

The defendant remains in the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

He faces a maximum sentence of twenty-five years in state prison.

Assistant District Attorney Fredric I. Green, Chief of the Sex Crimes Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Ken Borden of the Special Prosecutions Division are prosecuting the case.
