Defendant: Diamante Powell (DOB 08/28/98)

Jan. 10, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Diamante Powell of Yonkers was sentenced to 8.5 years in state prison by Westchester County Court Judge Barry Warhit. He pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder in the Second, a class B violent felony, in October.

Background
On Sept. 26, 2016, at approximately 4:30 a.m., in the vicinity of 34 Prospect St. in Yonkers, Powell shot the victim in his lower extremities as the victim was running away from him. The victim underwent multiple surgeries and has lasting serious physical injury.

Powell was indicted by a Westchester County Grand Jury in April 2018.

The case was prosecuted by District Attorney’s Office Investigations Division Gang, Firearms and Narcotics Bureau.
