Feb. 22, 2017 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Anupam Biswas (DOB 07/12/71) of 48 Briarbrook Drive, Briarcliff Manor, NY was arraigned today on a felony complaint in Briarcliff Village Court and charged with:

 

  • one count of Promoting An Obscene Sexual Performance By a Child, a class “D” Felony,
  • one count of Possessing An Obscene Sexual Performance By a Child, a class “E” Felony.

 

The defendant is employed in the IT department of a foreign bank located in Newark, New Jersey. On Feb. 14, 2017 a search warrant was executed at his home. Two external hard drives were removed by investigators.

An examination of those hard drives revealed thousands of images containing images of children under the age of 17 engaged in sexual performances and obscene acts.

The defendant was arrested today at his home. Investigators with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office were assisted by the Village of Briarcliff Manor Police.

The defendant pled not guilty.

Bail was set at $20,000 bond/$10,000 cash.

He faces seven years in state prison.

His next court date is March 8, 2017.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Michael Delohery, Chief of the High Technology Crime Bureau.
