The District Attorney’s Office is committed to promoting public safety through a robust program of public education and crime prevention. The Office of Strategic Planning and Community Outreach works with Assistant District Attorneys  to fulfill this aspect of its mission by speaking at events in schools and community settings, and conducting training exercises on legal topics for our law enforcement partners. 

Educational Programs
Our office provides educational programs and trainings for students, parents and school staff to increase awareness of public safety issues and to prevent crime in our schools and communities. Our programs are geared toward the specific ages of the audience.

Community Outreach
In addition to the programs offered above, members of the District Attorney’s Office regularly visit elder care facilities and centers within Westchester County to educate our senior population on how to protect themselves against physical abuse and scams that are prevalent in the County. In addition, we are available to assist the community in responding to issues that arise in the community by offering new workshops as needed. Some topics include, but are not limited to, identity theft, fraud, bias and hate crimes, and domestic violence.

Law Enforcement Training
The Office holds training sessions for outside law enforcement agencies including members of our local police departments, police recruits and police supervisors. These sessions are typically held at the Westchester County Police Academy while others are held at the police departments, themselves.
