Aug. 31, 2017 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced today that Marie Monteleone (DOB 03/31/40) of 71 Bishop Road, Bedford, NY was arraigned in Bedford Town Court and charged with:

  • One count of Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, a class “C” Felony.

This investigation began a little over two years ago. The victim is the son of the defendant. He was born with severe birth defects. A lawsuit was filed by the victim’s parents which resulted in a settlement which was to be used for his benefit alone.

Over the course of several decades, the victim (who is now forty-one years old) received Social Security benefits but was never told by the defendant that he also had a source of money to support himself and to go to college.

The defendant stole approximately $130,000 and used those funds to pay for her own personal expenses without the knowledge, permission or authority of the victim.

The investigation was conducted by the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.

The defendant pled not guilty and was released on her own recognizance.

She faces a maximum of five to fifteen years in state prison.

Her next court date is Oct. 11, 2017.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Nicole Gamble of the Economic Crime Bureau.
