Aug. 24, 2017 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced today that Yosaury Camilo (DOB 03/01/93) who was homeless at the time of the incident, pled guilty before Judge Barry Warhit to:

  • one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class “B” Violent Felony.

On Oct. 13, 2016, at approximately 8:05 a.m., the victim dropped off her daughter at the bus stop and was walking back to her mother’s house, located at 27 Saratoga Avenue in Yonkers. She opened the front door, entered the lobby of the building and was ambushed by the defendant, her sister, who was waiting in the lobby.

The defendant, as she held a folding knife in her hand, threatened the victim and proceeded to repeatedly stab and slash at the victim. During the assault, the victim was knocked to the ground, at which time the defendant jumped on top of her, held her down and continued to stab her.

A good samaritan heard the victim screaming, witnessed the defendant attacking her sister and called 9-1-1. When members of the Yonkers Police Department arrived at the scene, they located the victim and rendered aid. The victim was thereafter transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx where she was treated for her injuries, which included lacerations to her hands, head, face and abdomen. The victim underwent two surgeries and remained hospitalized for five days.

Defendant fled the scene in her car. She was arrested the following day in the Bronx.

The defendant was remanded.

She faces up to twenty-five years in state prison.

She will be sentenced on Oct. 19, 2017. 

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Wendy Parra, Domestic Violence Bureau Chief.
