Aug. 11, 2017 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced today that Neil White (DOB 09/02/69) of 3 Arbor Glen, New Rochelle, NY was arraigned before Judge Anne Minihan on a grand jury indictment charging him with:

  • one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class “A” Felony in the death of his daughter, Gabrielle White (DOB 08/02/02).

On June 6, 2017, at approximately 3:05 p.m., the nanny who helped to care for the victim came to 3 Arbor Glen in New Rochelle where both the victim and the defendant resided. She went to the third floor of the home and called out to both the victim and the defendant.

The defendant, who was bleeding from both his wrists from self-inflicted knife cuts, exited the master bedroom. The nanny became frightened and fled the home.

Once outside, the nanny immediately contacted the victim’s mother and the police. New Rochelle Police Officers who arrived on the scene a few minutes later entered the home and found the defendant in the master bedroom. Other officers found the victim in her bedroom, under her blanket, cold and in a state of rigor.

Later, the defendant was taken to the hospital for treatment where the cuts to his wrists were closed with stiches, where he was also read his rights and questioned. Defendant was subsequently charged in the death of his daughter.

The Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the cause of the victim’s death was asphyxia from smothering.

The defendant pled not guilty.

The defendant is remanded.

His next court date is Aug. 24, 2017.

He faces 25 years to life in state prison.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Paul Stein, the Child Abuse/Elder Abuse Bureau Chief of the Special Prosecutions Division and Timothy Ward, Deputy District Attorney of the Superior Court Trial Division.
