First Deputy District Attorney Patricia M. MurphyFirst Deputy District Attorney Patricia M. Murphy began her career in the Westchester County District Attorney’s office in 1983 where she was initially assigned to the Motions and Appeals Division.

She would later serve in the Local Criminal Courts and Grand Jury Division, as well as in the Investigations Division before being assigned to the Superior Court Trial Division in 1988.

Ms. Murphy was promoted to Bureau Chief of the Trial Division in 1997 and named Homicide Bureau Chief in 2000. She quickly rose through the ranks and in 2006, she was promoted to Chief of the Superior Court Trial Division before being appointed First Deputy District Attorney in 2016 with responsibilities as Chief of Trial Operations.

Since 2000, Ms. Murphy has played a key role in every homicide investigation and prosecution that has occurred in Westchester County. As lead prosecutor, she has tried more than two dozen homicide cases to verdict, including People v. DiGuglielmo (Dobbs Ferry shooting), People v. Alvarez (capital case), People v. DeRosario (cold case child murder), People v. West (cold case rape/murder), People v. Acevedo (cold case serial killer), and People v. Spears (child murder).

Ms. Murphy was educated at Fordham College and Yale Graduate School before earning her law degree from Fordham Law School.
